When it comes to AV systems, it is easy to get overwhelmed by all the cords and ports, but with a little guidance, you will see that it is not as complicated as it seems. In this walk-through video, we will show you how to set up your ice fishing trailer for maximum viewing pleasure.
First, let’s look at TV plate 1. This plate is used in most models, but there are some variations to look out for. The cables coming into the plate may have different functionalities depending on your set up, so it is important to know what you are working with.
The top port on the plate is used for coaxial signals. You might use this for an over the air antenna, a front view coaxial, or a satellite system. The next port down is for cameras and video, and slightly below that is a camera/HDMI port. These are useful for connecting optional features like an underwater camera for use in your ice fishing trailer.
Moving on to the first HDMI port, you will see something called DVD Audio Return Channel. This port allows you to get a DVD signal from your DVD/Radio combo to your TV. It also allows for sound to be output from your TV onto your radio speakers, if your TV has an HDMI ARC output.
The other two ports on the plate are for rear TV1 and TV2 HDMI cables. These cables allow you to connect your front TV plate to your rear TV plate, giving you maximum flexibility with your setup.
If you need to connect TV1 and TV2, there are two common accessories you should have on hand. The first is a small HDMI cord called a jumper cable. This will allow you to take an incoming signal, connect your jumper to that port, and route it into your HDMI rear TV1. The other useful tool is an HDMI splitter cable, which allows you to project a signal onto two different TVs. With these tools, you can enhance your viewing experience and impress your friends and family when they use your ice fishing trailer.
