Washing Your Wheelhouse

As the manufacturer of wheelhouses that are built for all-season outdoor recreation, we appreciate the many businesses that are catering to the needs of wheelhouse owners!  One industry that deserves a shoutout are the recreation/vehicle wash stations!  They continue to improve their offerings to outdoor enthusiasts by increasing stall sizes, providing equipment such as longer attachments, and offering safe cleaning solutions to meet the needs of all users.  There are a few reasons why you see a lineup of ice houses at the ‘Squeaky Clean’ every Sunday afternoon all winter.  One reason is that many homeowners have shut off their outside water lines during the winter months, making heading out to wash stations a necessity during the winter months rather than driveway washing which generally is more popular in the summer months.  So why spend time and money washing your Yetti?  We have a few reasons why, and tips for washing your wheelhouse below.

Reasons to wash your Yetti wheelhouse:

  • To look fly at the campground

  • To look fly on the ice

  • To clean sand and debris from the road off

  • To clean the salt off the wheel rims to prevent rust

Cleaning the salt and road debris off your Yetti consistently will aid in preventing rust in the wheel wells and other components of your wheelhouse.

Tips for washing your wheelhouse to consider:

  • If you are heading to a washing stall, don’t forget to check the wash bay stall height

  • Pay special attention to the wheel wells, consistent washing salt from the wheel wells will help prevent rust

  • If you’re a driveway DIY’er we suggest a car wash soap designed for automotive finishes

  • Use a shammy style towel to dry down the wheelhouse and remove water spots

    • Make sure that there is no dirt or debris on the towel you use to wipe down water spots

We do suggest that you always test a new product on a small area of your wheelhouse to ensure that you get the desired results.

Bottom line is that there are multiple reasons to wash your Yetti for both summer use and winter use.  If you are heading out to get your wheelhouse a wash be sure you are attentive and cautious that you are using safe products to use on your wheelhouse.
