Good Morning Coffee Lovers!

When you’re learning how to incorporate the comforts of home into your wheelhouse routines, one of the first things to consider is how you are going to have your morning cup of coffee while out on the ice!  Using a traditional coffee maker can be taxing on your generator and limit other electrical components’ usability while the coffee is brewing.  Even with a generator, it can become complicated in choosing when the coffee get’s made, and when the breakfast pizza can go on the pizzaz.  We have come up with a simple fix, and it involves changing the method of how you make coffee.  It’s time to learn the art of making French press coffee and earn your badge as a fish house barista!

The process of making coffee in a French press only takes a few minutes and you will swear it’s the best cup of coffee you’ve ever had in your wheelhouse!  It may even change the way you make it at home!

Items You Will Need:

  • Hot water kettle
  • Drinking water
  • Coffee press
  • Ground Coffee – Same type of grounds you would use in your pot at home

Step By Step Directions:

Based on our own experimentation and brewing best practices, here is our step-by-step recommendation* to how to make French press coffee:

  1. Heat your water using a stovetop kettle
  2. Add your ground coffee to your French press.
  3. Pour approximately a quarter of water into the press, making sure to evenly wet all of the grounds. Stir Gently.
  4. Add your remaining water to the press and place the lid on top of the carafe.
  5. Allow your coffee to steep for 4 minutes.
  6. Using the weight of your hand, gently push the plunger down to separate the grounds from the now brewed coffee.
  7. Transfer the coffee to a thermos or serve immediately.
